Zoe Gets Cuter by the Minute

I cannot believe it's been 20 days since I've updated the blog. Miss Zoe is spending less time sleeping during the day so my free time has been a bit more limited.

Zoe is doing GREAT! She is a BIG eater and a BIG sleeper at night. She's been sleeping 12 to 13 hours at night (with 2 brief wake-ups for feedings) on a nightly basis. I know that we have it very lucky with this nighttime schedule and we will be sure to tell her how appreciative we are of this when she is older :-) Although, I can't say that I'm completely surprised since I was the little kid that used to ASK my mom if I could go to bed!

Zoe and I have spent a couple of nights with her Grammy and Grandpa during the past couple of weeks. It's wonderful having them so close and it's a great break for me. They love to entertain, feed and sooth Zoe and my mom does a great job of cooking delicious dinners when I visit. Such a treat for me! Both Phil and my mom are completely crazy about Zoe (see pic of Phil and Zoe below!).

Dave and I are headed to Savannah for 2 nights for some R&R later this weekend. We're going to leave Zoe with my mom and Phil (let the spoiling begin!) - I wonder how Dave and I will hold up being away from little baby Zoe! At least we'll be very close to my mom and Phil, so we can always arrange to get her a day early ;-)

Next week Zoe hits her 2-month mark. That means another pediatrician visit and this one will entail some vaccinations. We are NOT looking forward to that visit. We are however looking forward to finding out how much she's grown since her last visit which was 2 weeks after her birth. We know it's going to be significant.

Zoe is so much more alert now and spends LOTS of time looking around (with her big blue eyes) and smiling at us. She is so interactive and loves to smile and "coo". She is such a doll and we love her to pieces!!

Zoe Loves Bath Time...

...maybe it's because she gets to use this cute, cute bath towel! (thanks, Linda!!)

We've Got a Traveler on our Hands...

We returned yesterday afternoon from a great couple of days in Asheville, NC. This was our first family road trip and we all had a great time. We did some shopping, dining, hiking and lots of relaxing - just what the doctor ordered and Zoe handled the trip like a pro!

The break from the Charleston heat was great. We hiked a short trail along the Blue Ridge Parkway on Monday and it was only 68 degrees - such a great change of pace from the 90-plus degrees we've had here.

A very proud Dave with Zoe on her first hike!

Zoe thought the bed at the Hilton was VERY comfortable!

Happy 1-Month Birthday, Zoe!

I can't believe it's been a month already. Dave said, "So you've had a month to get to know her - what do you think?" I replied "I think she's pretty spectacular". Dave agreed!

It's been a fun and challenging month. Zoe continues to get more interactive and that is so rewarding. She smiles a lot now and she even smiles in response to some of our goofy faces and sounds. Zoe's also gained a lot of strength in her neck. She sat in her Bumbo for the fist time yesterday! There's a pic below for anyone who is not familiar with a Bumbo!!

We have been out and about with Zoe quite a bit. Unfortunately, it's been way too hot to spend any time outside so she's been doing some shopping with us and has had many, many lunches out with Dave and I. Today though, we are leaving for our first family "trip" - we are headed to Asheville, NC for a few days. Fingers crossed it will be a successful one!
